ER or no ER

my 3 1/2yrold has had a fever as high as 104 since the 4th, I alt tylenol and IB....it wears off and fever spikes again....no vomit no diahrrea...almost no appitite(sp)? I also have a 2 1/2 y/o and no one to watch him if I need to go, soI'll have to take him as well....just wondering if it's a waste trip, or he could be really sick....help! please!

  • as long as it is going down with meds I would wait it out and make an appt with the regular ped tomorrow. Staying hydrated? That would be the biggest concern...

  • well, you have to give them the tylenol for 2 more doses after the fever breaks and returns to normal. i would just get the fever down again and take him to the ped. in the morning. you just wait forever in the er around alot of very sick people...not a good place to go unless it's a true emergency imo.

  • just make a stink when you call....trust me, they will find a time slot. 104 is a legitimate concern.
