What is the method you use to keep mosquitoes from biting you?

We use imitation vanilla extract in a spray bottle. It's all natural, works great. Has to be applied every couple of hours.

  • I just stay inside. I am pregnant and developed an allergy to them so I get really swollen from their bites now. I think I'll try the vanilla...

  • ..im fortunate; mosquitoes just dont bite me or my daughter. they'll light on us for a second, then fly away to feast on someone else.. they DO, however, eat my husband alive. so much so that it worried me how much poison he had to soak into his skin every 30 mins. a few years ago, i did a little research and came up with a home brew. 1 cup of alcohol (i use vodka or grain alcohol) mixed with 30 drops of one of the following essential oils: lavender, citronella, rosemary, lemon, or tea tree oil (pick one or a combination of only two). store it in a dark glass container and fill a little spray bottle as needed. we went from a full bottle of DEET repellant per day to ONE application of this natural spray per day. IT WORKS!
