  • We refrained. My mom went and said there are tons of hidden expenses, including gratuity for anything and everything. It's not a flat rate.

  • You're better off going to an all inclusive resort. All your food, all your drinks, activities, etc all for one flat rate. I recommend Breezes Grand, Negril, Jamaica.
Cruises you have to pay for drinks, tips, and there's not much to do on the boat that is free.

  • Wait until closer to cruise time to book - they'll lower the prices more and more as it gets closer and there are still empty cabins. Also as far as spending, we had a credit as debit card - it only worked if it had money in it, like a debit card - so we put the money in we had available to spend, kept close track of what we "spent" along the way, and didn't go over - then paid for it all at the end with that card. We planned ahead of time no alcohol, minimal shopping & things like that. Keeping track was the best though, we kept a small notebook & pen in a purse or pocket and every time we signed a reciept we wrote down the amount rounded up to the next dollar (say a pop refill was 2.50, we wrote down 3), added up the day's stuff each night.

  • Where have you been? Puerto Rico ( left from there), Guadeloupe, Grenada, Aruba, Venezuela, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico ( different places), Belize, Honduras, Grand Cayman

Where would you like to go?A 30 day cruise...Asia, Australia and New Zealand..Med...those are my dream cruises..

What's the best time of year for a couple to get away?Winter. We usually go in winter as it is not hurricane season, kids are in school, and it is still warm in the Caribbean.

What was your budget? Did you overspend? Our last cruise was for all 4 of us- Dh, myself, 2 yr old and 5 yr old. We went on the Carnival Dream for 7 days. We also had a balcony. Our entire cruise was around $3K. ( everything BTW- room, shopping, excursions, drinks, spa, tips, etc..for all of us)
