Would you enter your child into a pageant?

just curious, would you put your child in a pageant? you don't have to tell the reason, and you'll not get any negativity from me, just wanted to know!

    I think here are better ways to build self-esteem and confidence than pageants. Pageants, even the ones that decree no make-up, age appropriate dress and points for non-appearance based categories, place some attention on who looks the right part and how they play to it. I'd rather my daughter find her confidence, esteem, leadership skills, etc in something like Girl Scouts or her beloved art classes, gymnastics etc. The focus moves to WHO she is and not what she looks like while being that person.

  • no besides the reasons idmrmom gave (which i agree w/) my kid would never win. she's pretty & talented but shes so hard headed she'd never let anyone tell her what to do. plus, i have no skills in the makeup/hair department.

    if she chose to do it, id let her, but its never gonna be something i want for her.
