Not a question -- just wanted to post for encouragement and to brag really...

I had my birth, my way, my decisions and I FEEL great for staying true to my birth plan!! Just had to throw this out there... getting informed and really stating my wants not succumbing to the hospital philosophy paid off! Natural childbirth, no IV, less than 48hrs there and I am already healing!

  • kylie bob,
Did she advise you not to make one to turn in, but still do the homework?
If you had made a birth plan you might have been more prepared for coping alternatives, options, risks, etc.
There are some important reasons to make a birth plan~ overall they are helpful for moms-to-be.
Sounds like your MW didn't understand the point if she said "things change".

In the future we can help!

  • Good for you!! Same here ... I had my two children naturally without epiderals or anything! And, my kids both weighed 10 pounds -- ahh! Ouch - but they were worth it! :o)

  • We were advised by our mid wife not to do a birth plan because more often than not things change anyway! And she was soooo right! I didn't plan on having pain relief at all, but a 24 hour labour changed my mind, I literally had everything they offered me!
