  • SAHM here. Only income is the 50K that my husband makes. We save FIRST, pay bills and living expenses and then SAVE some MORE! It's not easy living on rice and beans and beans and rice, but we rather do that and have a savings vs. not doing that.

  • our money goes straight from the paycheck into our retirement funds and the college funds for the kids before we ever even see it. it's the first thing taken out. we always have money left for bills but not always money left for fun stuff.

  • We do. My paycheck is put towards the mortgage and the rest goes into savings. DH covers the other bills and expenses.

  • I put $200 into the girls college fund from every paycheck (i get paid once a month, yes, it sucks) DH's paycheck covers bills

  • Bills come first here. The only people I know who are able to put into savings first make a lot more money than we do.
