UGH! My son keeps putting his hands in his mouth, making him gag and puke!!! he's 10 months old, is this normal??

  • Yes, he's trying to burp or get up a gas bubble. Mine did that, too.

  • You can give him baby gas-x (Mylicon drops) if he has a hard time burping on his own. He's probably just trying to get pressure off his tummy.

  • My son has special needs and reflux it was hard to tell him to stop doing it so I talked to our GI doc and we upped his prevacid in case he was having increased reflux symptoms. He still does it sometimes but not nearly as much.

  • My daughter does this (9 months), but she sticks her hands in to chew on them....she prefers her hands to teething rings, and sometimes she sticks them so far back that she makes herself spit up. I think it's pretty normal.

  • Yes! Mine both did that. Just ignore it and it will stop. They will eventually figure out that they don't like the gagging, but if you react, they will keep it up just for the attention.
