Does it bother you when your pets lick your bare feet? adult content

I have a lovely dog, which I adore. BUT, he has a habit of licking my feet while I am laying down. Could it be he likes the taste of my lotion? Could the lotion make him sick?

  • lol, yep it's probably your lotion. some dogs have a thing for lotion. I don't think the amount they get from licking you can cause any issues :D

  • Seems like I read somewhere that indicates a lack of salt in the dog's diet. Anyway, yes it would bother me. I think it's gross.

  • I've got a 7mo hound pup that likes to lick my feet too. I don't think the lotion will bother them. My pup likes the aloe lotion that I put on my sunburn. Whenever I put it on she tries to lick it off.

  • I have a 9month old pup & he loves to lick feet! It's sooo gross. I sometimes accidently kick him because he startles me when I'm laying down in bed!

  • I should mention my dog is an 86 pound baby. He is also my service dog, he alerts when I get sick. So, he does sleep with me on most nights. Before you all scream, UGH, He goes to the groomers twice a month and has a better manicure, than I do. I DO notice after he alerts, he licks his own paws. It must be a stress reliever for him. I have never been sick when he licks my feet, his head always points towards the door and towards the alarm system. He is OFF duty when I take his vest off during the day for play.

  • I got both my dogs as adults from the pound about 2.5 years ago. They both lick which I do not like, but they like hands, not feet. They're about 4 & 5 now. I'm trying to get them to stop, but one is particularly obsessive. I even coated my arms with liquid soap, didn't even slow him down. (he didn't get that much, and I tried bitter apple which he liked). They lick my hands, face, arms, legs, whatever they can get to. The obsessive one will also walk behind me and either lick my leg or bumps me with his nose (even if I'm in pants). He's been getting a bit better about it, but he'll do a quick lick when I'm not paying attention. Never had a dog with this behavior (to this extent), and to have two.... ick.
