  • With my first two, I wasn't overdue, I was actually several days earlier than my due date, but needed induced due to toxemia.

With my third, I was 5 days overdue.

  • I had my babies at 40-43 weeks,
but my induced labor was at 40 weeks ("medical reason"), so not overdue.

Are you considering inducing (for dates)?

  • I was 10 days overdue with my 3rd baby but I refused to be induced . Fortunately my OB's at the AF clinic agreed. They were not fans of inducing and believed in as little intervention as possible. My first was a few days early, my 2nd on her due date ( after only a few hours of labor and a quick trip to the hospital.LOL. ) I always insisted on no induction.

  • @ Doulala..Why i'm asking this question is because a friend is giving me grief that i'm deciding unless for medical reasons,i need to be induced or have a c-section,i want the baby to come when ready.
She said,no child should be more than a few days overdue infact,no later than 38 weeks (she has no medical degree)..However,i read your not really overdue until your reach 42 weeks ?
So,what is medically safe ?..I feel an unneeded induction,is just as bad since it could put stress on the baby ?
If,this could be cleared up..I would appreciate it.

  • I had to be induced before my due dates because of medical reasons, but you are correct. A pregnancy normally runs somewhere around 38-42 weeks, and if you're healthy there's no reason to rush into an induction.

  • I had recently answered a question about induction risks in general and will link you over to there for now.

When I have another minute I will get to post date info.
