I made icing the other day....

I made my first batch of icing the other day, and now I'm curious. How do you make white or vanilla icing??? I made chocolate icing w/ chocolate chips, so obviously I know how we got that. But are their like vanilla chips or something you can use for white icing??

  • For a quick vanilla icing you need: 3 cups of confectioners' sugar
    1 cup butter
    1 tsp of vanilla
1 to 2 tbs of whipping cream
Mix the butter and suga on low speed until blended then on med sped for 3 more min. Add vanilla and cream and beat on med until desired consitency, add more cream if needed.

This is my favorite, andte kids love it.

  • Buttercream? Vanilla extract is what you use. Not a lot though. You could also use vanilla beans. just scrape the sides.

  • Some white icings are very simple and just involve sugar water and cream of tartar. They aren't much on flavor though. You could always try a buttercream or I have a favorite that is made with cream cheese.

Its 8 oz cream cheese, 4 Tbsp butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla. Make sure the cream cheese and butter are soft and just mix it all together well.

  • Add vanilla essence to pure icing sugar mixture with some sunflower oil.
