I'm just saying even the Bible doesn't agree with the Bible's definition of marriage, so why let any one faith dictate the argument?

  • IMO, limiting marriage in ANY fashion by law (besides to say only legal, competent & Human Adults can marry) is a violation of our supposed "freedom of religion." Since MY religion does not limit my marriage to one man and one woman, why should the laws of the land?

  • Bottom line...the bible does not and should not dictate our laws. Anyone who thinks so is egotistical.

  • On this Sodom and Gomorrah thing, they were killed because it's horrible to be homosexual, but it's ok for Lot to offer to send his virgin daughters out to the mob to be raped instead? God still saved him.

  • I don't know what "Bible" your reading. I am a New Testament Bible believing Christian, and my Bible says' in 1 Corithians7:2 - " But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband." There are many other verses that substantiate this thought. Just look in the back of your Bible and look up marriage. Also, Sodom and Gomorrah were homosexuals and were punished by being cast into eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. So the thought is, of course, if God cursed homosexuals in this way and all of the verses about marriage mention man and woman, husbands and wives, you should conclude that he does not agree with nor sanctify marriage between the same sex. Read Romans 1:24, and you will get a good picture of God's disagreement with same sex relations and therefore marriage.

  • Sodom & Gomorrah were homosexual rapists...keyword rapists not homosexuals...among other atrocities (Ezekiel 16:49-50). its naive to think it was just homosexuality in the loving form we see today that caused God to damn two entire cities.

OP that was a hilarious read & much appreciated!! i wish we had less morality laws on the books & that SSM were legal in all states since no ones religion is suppose to dictate the laws of the land.

  • wow read the article you posted that is some good writing there. and a lot of it is true. and when you add in the fact that marriage really has more to do with legal contracting then religion it makes more sense. i mean look back when the bible was written if you wanted a divorce you had to like trade a cow or a donkey or be shamed in some way and then poof low and behold it was over. none of this crap we have today.and men were usually the only ones allowed to invoke it. how times have changed.NOT. any way now marriage is more so you can put people on your health insurance legally, so you can make a choice for them should something happen to them. so familes can make sure that the wife or husband has what they need in case of death. and a whole host of other legal reasons. if it had soooooo damn much to do with religion how coem the divorce rate is so freakin high. and lawyers get so much money for this practice???

  • love Love LOVE Cracked, and I haven't read this one yet, thanks for posting! They always make some great arguments. And @ popzaroo ... What do you mean a waste of time? Seeing the other point of view is a waste of time? Fact is, that is the damn truth, woman was "created" from a man's rib. Therefore, man is to marry his "mutated rib" ... it's a humorous way of saying it, but it IS what is in your little book of laws...
