  • "About 700 pounds. Compared to beavers, groundhogs/woodchucks are not adept at moving timber, although some will chew wood. (At Cornell, woodchucks that gnaw their wooden nest boxes are given scraps of 2-by-4 lumber.) A wildlife biologist once measured the inside volume of a typical woodchuck burrow and estimated that -- if wood filled the hole instead of dirt -- the industrious animal would have chucked about 700 pounds' worth." • It depends....are their taxes to be paid on the wood? What about government regulations on how much wood can be consumed in a given period of time?

  • The woodchuck would live on a non-governed island free from any and all wood tax, but the beavers on that island only allow the woodchuck to barter 4 rick of wood per woodchuck family per day.

  • DragonRiderMD, good point, however you have not taken into account the beaver's Totalitarian hold over the woodchuck community.
