  • Position isn't something that you learn from just 1 cycle. To start with, softness or hardness...touch the tip of your nose. Your cervix will feel firm like that when you are not fertile or close to ovulation. When you are close to ovulation, it will 'give' like when you touch your cheek.
Position...when you insert your finger, you will feel it when you curl your finger towards your belly button. The lower it is, the easier it is to reach. The higher it is, the shorter your finger seems to be. Also, the opening on the cervix will open slightly when you are fertile.

  • Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a great book on the subject. That is how most of us know.

  • Yes. When it's higher, it is in more of a position for sperm to have a shorter journey to get there.

  • No...she was a birth control baby. But it has helped me keep from getting pregnant for 3 years with no condoms or birth control so if I wanted to get pregnant (which we aren't being careful any longer but not actively trying) it wouldn't be hard.
