Playground question...what have you seen on ground to cushion falls?

have seen wood chips, mostly
the new cushie foam like ground is great

went to school playground the other day, it is small white rocks!
ever seen this??

she is going to playground - "let's get ready for 4K"
and the school she will go to this Summer is that playground - with small rocks under the playground equipment
after we played there, we both had chalky white crap on us - that can not be good

anyone have a thought why a school would put small white rocks under the play equipment? any benefit - besides saving money

thank goodness, this will NOT be her school next Fall

  • I haven't seen this stuff yet but now you have me curious. The preK our children went to used recycled rubber mulch. Their grade school uses wood chips. We've been to a public playground in another town that had that cushiony rubber foam like padding. I liked that stuff.

  • guess small rocks cushion better than sand
but the chalky white dust = worries me a bit
what is it, thinking something added the brighten the rocks-something not natural

daughter has 'issues' with chemicals in food, change in diet has helped her autism
wondering what the heck this white dust is

  • It could be just chalk. I've had white rocks in our yard when I was growing up that left white chalk on you
