What is the proper age to talk about sex, drugs, gangs etc with a child?

  • Starting in Kindergarten and the sex and drug talks need to be ongoing, getting more detailed as the child develops. The sex talk should be pretty much completed before the child is in 8th grade. Be open and honest depending on the child's age and development. Gangs should also be ongoing because the kids will be more influenced as they get older.

  • There isn't just one talk - it's an on-going, honest conversation that begins when they start asking questions, somewhere between ages 2 and 3. As the child grows, the more information you share. I think kids ought to have a working familiarity with society and their anatomy well BEFORE they encounter any of the issues in life.
