What do you think is eating my plants?

something has eaten some leaves off of my sweet potato vines (the variegated and the black), the buds off of some of my sunflowers and the buds off of some of my re-blooming lilies. i am thinking definitely not a bug or caterpillar since the entire leaf is gone (not nibbled on....just the stem is left). same thing with the buds...they are clipped right off of the stem. could it be deer? i know that there are some deer in my neighborhood but i haven't had any trouble with them in my yard before. thanks if you have any ideas!!

  • Liquid fence. It's all natural, first bite they will leave. It repells rabbits too.

  • Sounds like the deer are visiting when you're not looking ;).

  • plant things that repel deer around your garden.. you could also put out something to make noise in the wind or if they get close to the plants, like bells ect or pie pans and spoons.. the noise will frighten them away usually. good luck!

  • You could use a motion dectecting light out there. It'll scare 'em away.

  • Ugh, I misread your post first time....so they are eating the entire bloom?? Must be deer...you can google to see if deer like the flowers you have.
