Is a big increase in fetal movement a sign of labor?

I'm 39 weeks and 3 days. On Friday I was 2 cm. dilated. I've been doing everything just as normal today, but my baby has been awake for almost the entire day! He's been super active.

  • With three of my pregnancies, they decreased in movement. With my third pregnancy, my boys were moving all the time, but I delivered them at 32 weeks.

  • I've heard that the baby decreases his/her movements before labor but they should still move around, just not as much. I wouldnt know from experience though. My daughter wasnt very active and she moved just the same before my water broke. I'm 39 weeks with my 2nd baby and he has slowed down some the past 2 days. He's a very active one too lol.

  • Thank you! He's been still for about the past month except for today. He's dropped quite a bit and I'm starting to think that all the movement has been him turning around to face back.
