What are some cold MEAL ideas for toddlers?

I think ONE of many reasons my boys arent eating much lately is because its been pretty hot. but i just cut up a cool apple for them and theyre eating it all so I'm wondering besides fresh fruit what are some meal ideas I could try to get them to eat that are still yummy served cold?

  • Yogurt, my DD will eat oatmeal cool, cereal, PB toast, Celery sticks with PB, my DD also like string beans straight out of the can (weird), bagel and cream cheese, cheese sticks, I like to take a piece of deli ham, put cream cheese on it then wrap it around a pickle and cut it into slices, weird but yummy, Cheese and cracker platter, top some with cucumber, some with Dill weed, some tomato, whatever they like. Deviled eggs, tuna fish or egg salad sandwiches, mixed nuts, lots of kids will eat cold hot dogs, I wouldn't but I see a lot of kids do, and I forget about apple sauce sometimes. When it's hot my 19 mo old usually gets a variety of small healthy more snack foods, she won't eat hot meals when she's hot either, like a yogurt, nuts, fruit and a piece of bagel. Just balance it out as best you can. Good luck!

  • My kids LOVE when I fill a platter with cut up cheese, or string cheese, crackers, cut up fruit & veggies, sometimes a little lunch meat. Kind of like a lunchable, but they can choose to have more or less of each item. Or if they're not in a sharing mood, I'll make them each their own bowl of the same stuff, or give them a choice of which fruit, which veggie, etc.

Pinwheels - take a tortilla, spread on a little flavored cream cheese, add a little meat, a little cheese, some lettuce & other veggies they like. Roll it up, and cut into slices. You can skip the spread & let them dip it in a little cup of ranch.

  • pasta salads, potato salads, couscous salads and rice salads. I've not tried the rice salads yet but I've read good reviews. Try sites like, one of my favs!!!
I do pasta salads with veggies and either tuna, sausage or chicken.
Our fav potato salad is one I make with smoked salmon and green beans, yummy!!!
I'll cook some cous cous up and add veggies and for a dressing on it I will add either lemon juice or italian dressing
Maybe try some deviled eggs or hard boiled eggs
cold fajitas with chicken/steak and veggies
One that takes time because it tastes better if the ingredients are cut very small is fruited chicken salad
    1 cup thinly sliced grapes
1 cup diced peaches (skins removed)
    1 cup thinly sliced celery
1 cup chopped cooked chicken (I boil the chicken for this, as it is better soft for this dish)
1/2 cup sour cream and mayo mixed together
Mix it all together and serve!!!
