  • Different things are meaningful to different people. Depends on the person receiving the gift.

  • One of my favorite thrifty, homemade gifts is a gift basket of items from the dollar tree. You can get a basket or other container (kitchen canister, flower pot, etc.) and fill it with themed items like:

    Movie - popcorn, candies, DVD;
    Bath - bath salts, candles, body lotion;
    Spa - hand towel, nail grooming kit, body lotion, facial mask, room fragrance, relaxation CD.

    Once you've arranged everything in an eye-pleasing manner, wrap it all in cellophane -- even use a little as filler in the bottom of the basket, and tie it with a curling ribbon. Go for similar/same colors or scents. All of it can be a dollar or less. For $10 you can put together a nice gift, with a theme that the recipient will enjoy. :-)

  • Do you have any DYI tallents? What kind of things does this other person like, in general? That might help us help you.
