How do you tell a child about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

  • I got children's books about Jesus and Vacation bible school is a good idea, Just always guiding and explaining things as they ask questions, also listen to songs of praise and worship in the car.

  • P.S. I also teach him about Mythology, Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Astrology, Egyptian teachings, etc .... he'll figure it out for himself ... all teachings have Worth! We as parents are here to Guide them and not make their mind up for them!

  • Have let him go to Vacation Bible School at my Mom's church. A fun environment, non intimidating for a child to learn about the bible's teaches and let him come home and ask me any questions he may have and let him develop his beliefs w/o forcing anything onto him. I've taught him to have an open mind and will never feel weird about asking "the BIG questions", I will let him develop his own beliefs as he grows!

  • Sunday school teachers have that answer down pat. I don't know how I'd begin to explain that to a child or an adult.

  • Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm going to start that young with my child's religious education... But I plan on going as in depth as I can in showing him all of his options and educating him on all that I can, if that makes sense. So I want to wait until he's old enough to really understand it all.

    If I were to start anything that early, though, (and remember, this is how *I* would do it for *my* child) I'd start with the idea of Jesus as a teacher, with his message of love and compassion, and then build on that as my child gets older and can understand more, depending on his maturity level (he's only 3 1/2 right now) and understanding. I'll eventually teach him what various people think about Jesus, while also educating him on other faiths and teachers/prophets/etc, letting him decide what resonates with him....
