How can I start becoming a babysitter in my community?

  • Restrictions are different in every State. But in Texas you can watch up to 3 unrelated children and be a 'Listed Child Care Provider' or you can be a 'Registered Home Day Care Provider' and watch up to 8 (child age restrictions heavily apply with that number). You have to attend a Registration Class to be get your certificate. You can go to Department of Human Services and Child Protective Services web site and you should be able to find out all the info there. GL

  • Go to and register. That will give you a few kids. You will get more as parents tell their friends and so on and so forth...

  • Check your state laws and know first aid and cpr and then just put ads places

  • I'd take classes, get certified as a caregivier, cpr classes, etc etc. In some places its the LAW. (depending on how many kids, how long you are watching, etc). After which, post ads in newspapers, talk to playgroups, post around your neighborhood.
