  • Regular, nutritious small meals plus coffee. The last one is criticized by every diet book I read, but it increases metabolism by 20%

  • You can find exercises that are safe on your joints, like swimming. Exercise is THE best way to boost your metabolism. Strength training will help you build lean tissue, which greatly ups your metabolism. You should try to meet with a physical therapist who can help you learn exercises that will help you, and perhaps a nutritionist who can teach you how to eat at your current activity level.
