If you had?

an income of 55-60 thou a year, what do you think would be a reasonable rent payment on a house? In other words what would be the optimal amount of rent we should pay with that income and a $400 car payment? Would $1500/ month be stretching?

  • It would be too far of a stretch for us with our other living expenses. We pay $1000 monthly mortgage and that's comfortable. Our car payments are $500 a month and I'm sure our other bills differ from yours also. :)

  • I could pay $1500/month on a 60k income, but I am good at stretching our money and we budget well. With the car payment it would be very tight though - no money for fun.

  • If I made that much, I'd just buy a home. I actually make quite a bit less than that and bought a home and have a $305 mortgage.
