Why is it shoes and socks and not socks and shoes?

I thought of this, this morning because my son when I told him to put on his shoes and socks he came out of the bedroom with his shoes on his feet and socks lying on top of his shoes and he said "ok mom I have on my shoes and socks just like you said," It's funny though we always say shoes and socks eventhough you put your socks on BEFORE your shoes. Why do we do that?

  • I've always said socks and shoes so...

I have one, though. Why is it always peanut butter and jelly. Why can't I have a jelly and peanut butter sandwich? LOL.
