8 glasses of water may not be so important.

I saw this today. We have been so schooled that 8 glasses of water is a must. Now, we see it may not be so important. Thoughts.

  • I drink water when I'm thirsty. But 8 glasses of water. I think that the idea is providing your body with the right amount of liquids. Some bodies need more liquids than others.

  • That is all I drink all day long. I might drink one glass of pop or one glass of koolaid or something like that, but mostly it is water and I drink when I am thirsty which is more now that I am almost 37 weeks pregnant. Seems like I can't get enough to drink these days lol

  • I don't even come close to 8 glasses a day. I'm lucky to get 4 in. I just don't want it. I agree that my body will tell me when it needs fluids.

  • A glass was always considered 8 oz - or a cup. Now the recommendation is 9 cups for women, 13 cups for men - so it's more than the previous recommendation. Best yet is half your weight in ounces.

  • I drink a lot, so 8 glasses is not that much. I do think you can get fluid from foods also. I did notice one time when I was extremely hungry that I drank a glass of water and felt better. Also, sometimes you think you are hungry, but thirsty.

  • our bodies need lots of water for several reasons. One to drain fat,it helps our skin,brain,and digestive track. etc etc. I think we need the minimum of 8 glasses of water a day. I was told by my doctor that I need to take half my weight and thats how many ounces of water I should drink in a day.
