Stage 1 baby foods

I have a 3month old boy and hes eating 5 oz of formula like every 2 ta 2 1/2 hrs!! He just doesn't seem to be getting full! On top of that hes still waking up in the middle of the night to eat..and its every 2 ta 3hrs!! So at like 5pm i give him a LITTLE baby rice cereal...but hes still gettin up at night! And i kno they say to not give them the food untill 6months..but i was wondering if any moms out there started it sooner..or if any help on something or tricks to get him to sleep more?

  • Your baby is probably going through a growth spurt. Feeding your baby solids will not help him sleep longer. Please read this article about delaying solids. It really is important to wait at least 6 months.

  • He's going through a growth spurt. Give him more formula - it has the nutirents he needs. The first several months of meals are for exploring tastes, textures, and how to eat off of a spoon. They aren't for nutritional purposes.

  • My son was eating rice cereal at 3 months . The doctor said since he was 13 lbs. or double his birth weight that he could have rice cereal. She suggest spoon feeding but i would put it in the bottle and make it like a milk shake.......he was a much happier baby. Around 4 months your life will change that is when my baby started sleeping through the night. You may need to put a bigger hole in the nipple. You may also try another oz. or two of formula just to see if he will drink it. Good Luck!

  • If you have given him rice cereal with no adverse affects then it should be fine. Give him a little more cereal, if he's hungry then he will wake up. I had to give my son cereal at 2 weeks because he would spit up constantly. The only way he held his food down was if it was thickened with cereal. Just watch him carefully when giving it to him. He will enjoy the extra food!
