I feel strongly about only nursing my 2+ yr old at wake up and night time, but occasionally she screams for it during the day and nothing appeases her. Any tips on weaning and if/when to 'give in' , does that hinder the process? Thanks!

  • Once you set the "rules", giving in from time to time will only confuse her. Since she won't know exactly when or under what conditions you will give in, she will cry all the more often and all the louder until you do.

You've set your limits - morning wake up and bedtime. She's old enough to understand that though she won't want to accept it. You need to stick to what you say or she will wonder what OTHER rules she can whine her way out of.

  • I don't have an answer because i don't think breastmilk have any nutrients in it once it past 12 month.

  • Let her scream. After a couple days, she will learn that you actually mean what you say. Every time you "give in" it only reinforces in her mind that Mommy does not mean what she says and baby can scream and she'll get what she wants. Soon, she'll scream for other things because for her, it gets results.
