Is it possible to..............

take a HPT and be negative, but be pregnant.

  • Hun... i had - test til i was 4months preg.
    yes i knew i was just kept taking to see when it would show up.
    i had to have a blood test.
    also that was with twins

  • Yep, if your hormones levels aren't high enough it can be a false negative. With my current pregnancy my first test was negative, a week later I took another test, and I am indeed pregnant, lol.

  • Yes. And it's much more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

  • Yes, but it's VERY rare. HPT's are almost as effective as blood tests now in accuracy and early results. For example, my Obstetrician won't schedule you for an appointment lest you've had a positive home test.

  • Yes...false negs are very common. False positives are extremely rare, but flase negs happen all the time.
