Does tummy time effect crawling ?

my little one is 7 months and used to tolerate tummy and was getting very good at it. Now she has mastered "sitting" and hates tummy time. She rolls over when i put her that way. Will she be a delayed "walker" or at crawling? Hymm?

  • No mom....These pediatricians have us moms worryin' all the time ;)

As long as your little one has plenty of free play time all of her development should be normal.....if you had her strapped in a chair or something all day long I would be worried.....you sound like you are a concerned loving mom...so i am sure her development will be normal ;)

  • The tummy time was to build mucles in her neck, back, stomach, and chest. Now that she has the muscles to roll over and sit, she can keep building up those muslces in other ways. Sitting makes her hold up her head and balance her upper body, which builds tummy and chest muscles. Congrats! She'll be fine.

  • tummy time only lasts until they can sit and roll over. after that it is just floor time. let him play and he will be trying to crawl in no time so that he can chase you and explore more.

  • She may never crawl; she may just go straight to walking. Some babies never crawl, and there's nothing wrong with that. There are no developmental delays if she never crawls. Try not to worry! =)
