  • Wash hands. We only use sanitizer when there isn't a sink with soap around.

  • We wash hands after the bathroom, before we eat and if they are playing in the dirt or if they touch something concerning.. I'm not overly obsessive though and only use sanitizer if we can't wash with soap and water. Thing is last 3 years I can count the number of times we've all been sick combined on one hand (4 of us) even simple sniffles. I think societies germophobia is what prevents us from building up a tolerance to germs. My son missed 1 day of school the entire year last year and that was the 1st day of school because he had pink eye. Not so much as a sniffle after.

  • Yes! I constantly tell them to wash their hands while at school. I make them wash them as soon as they step into the house, before eating, after, bathroom.

  • The kids wash only wash their hands before eating, after using the bathroom and when they look or feel dirty--using soap and water. We do not use hand sanitizers or wipes. Exposure to germs builds better immune systems and healthier kids, while unnecessary exposure to unneeded industrial chemicals are a risk to them.

  • We wash up after we know we have been doing something dirty. I santize their hands on the was out of the pediatricians office, too, where I know they have been playing with toys that sick kids of all sorts have been touching.

The only other time I am anal is when I KNOW we are contagious or if we are visiting with a child under age 1.
