Will my breasts get smaller after I stop breastfeeding?

My son is currently 5 months old and I've been breastfeeding ever since and plan on it for a few more months. Since breastfeeding my breasts are rather large, like 36C and it's very uncomfortable. I cannot wear a V neck shirt or a low-cut sweater without worrying that I have mile long cleavage hanging out. Of course my husband enjoys the size but he is uncomfortable with all the attention the ladies get when we are out. I was wondering if my breasts will shrink in size once I stop breastfeeding? Even when I stop and they get so huge from being engorged will they shrink?

  • They will more than likely shrink some. Mine did. They are bigger than pre pregnancy but they lost some volume and went down some. Not bad though. They just don't look so ROUND and big anymore, lol. Just right and normal now.

  • They will likely go back to a size similar to what they were prior to your being pregnant. They probably won't be quite as perky, though. The engorgement will only last a short while. I can relate to your dilemma with the size, though. I've always been big busted, and it's impossible to find shirts that work!

  • They will go down. Infact when I say down I literally mean down. Instead of them being fuller and rounder they will be more oval and a little droopy and smaller. The skin will feel a little saggy too.
This is the part where women start complaining about their "saggy" breasts. It's part of life. It's natural. It's not that bad if you don't make it a big deal.

  • Mine were big when I started (36D) and went up to a 38DD which is where they stayed...this pregnancy they've gotten even bigger (I'm scared to even guess) and god only knows what will happen when I nurse. I will definitely be getting a reduction and lift after my baby making days are over.

  • Mine shrank but I'm also 15 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight.

  • Right now I would concentrate on nursing your child and worry not about whether your "ladies" shrink or not. Enjoy your child, don't sweat the small stuff....pun intended. Good Luck

  • I nursed all mine for a long period of time and after the last one nursed my boobs look like and feel like pudding lol. They sag and have like no substance to them (if you know what i mean) I told y hubby for my 10 year wedding anniversary i wanted a boob job to make them firmer and more boisterous lol.

  • your boobs will not be the same, shape, size, or consistency...ever! they will go back to size BUT they will sag due to how much your skin stretched during breastfeeding. breastfeeding does this NOT pregnancy. sorry.
