How do i use applesauce in the place of oil?

I heard you could replace oil in cakes with apple sauce. I was wondering if I could do the same with brownie mix and what is the measurements that i would use? I mean do I use one cup of appl sauce if it says one cup of oil? Or is the replacement measurement different?

  • You just substitute it for the oil. I do it all the time. If a recipe calls for a 1/3 c of oil, I use 1/3 c of applesauce.

  • Is it used in the place of oil? I know it can be used instead of sugar...

  • Baby that is going to mess your engine UP................

It's equal measures - whatever oil you would have used just use applesauce instead. Might want to add a pinch of shortening?

  • I make this pumpkin bread that calls for 1 cup of oil, so I use 1/2 c (real) butter, 1/4 c applesauce, and 1/4 c oil. Works awesome!
