  • You need to go see your doctor to get meds. prescribed. Other moms will probably tell you to do other "natural" things like exercise..ect. But if you are truly depressed, you need to be on meds. Not only for yourself but for your family as well.

  • Well, we can try to help, but you need to see your family Dr. Is sounds like you might need to be put on an Anti-Depressant medication. There is nothing wrong with the way you are feeling. All people experience bouts of depression at some point in their lives. The significance of it is that you need to see a Dr. to get some help.

  • meds are good, but they are not enough.to truly treat depression, you have to work at it..Exercise is the best way to lift serotonin (happy drug in brain) it relieves stress and increases blood flow to organs.start off with 30 minutes a day. It needs to be rigorous enough to break a sweat. your heart rate has to get up past where it normally sits. get at least 7-8hours of sleep a night. try taking unisom at 8pm and waking up around 6, but allow ourself to wake up "naturally."
third, get a therapist. speaking with him or her can help figure out what exactly in your life needs tweaking and recommend to your doctor an appropriate drug... most primary care physicians do not know much about these things, truly. Good luck.

  • Medication and counseling together are your best bet. Getting a bit out of the depression with medication helps you feel better and deal emotionally with your issues. Once you are making progress emotionally in counseling, you may begin to cut back on medication. Give yourself at least a year of counseling once a week, longer if you can't make it once a week. It's important to work on your issues so you don't fall back into the depression without being aware at any point that you are heading in that direction.

  • I think a combo of dr's meds, exercise, and counselling or at least dr.'s meds and exercise. How old are your kids? The libraries in my town and in surrounding town have free mommy child gathering. FREE! You're allowed to be sad. Being a mom is very hard, look how good you've done asking for thoughts!!! Now call your dr. and ask for a callback tomorrow morning - don't wait til after christmas to atleast have appt.date.. Then google your county's libraries for activities.Be proud of youself for seeing you need advice.

  • I am on Meds. for depression and it really does help to be on them. Like another mom said on here it really wont help everything but it does help enough that you are able to start doing your daily stuff again. I would suggest seeing your doctors about this
