What does a child need for head start?

My DD will be starting head start after winter break ends. What will she need other than a back pack? They didn't say anything specific about needing folders or crayons or anything? Do they have all that there or do I need to buy something?

  • Usually if you ask a teacher they will be able to give you a class list. They might also ask for donations for supplies for the class in general.

  • You should check with your local head start.

For ours it was a backpack and change of clothes to leave there.

  • Each program will be a little different. Just check with the Director of the program your child will be attending. Likely they will have all of the necessary school supplies. You will probably need to provide a change of clothing and possibly a sleeping blanket. Head Start programs are generally pretty well funded by the Federal Government, so they have most things covered.
