This may be stupid but what does remission mean?

If you don't ask you'll never know, right?

  • For cancer patients? If this the case, it is where the disease is dormant, but, can later reoccur.

  • I assume you mean in regards to cancer? if so remission means that it is withdrawing, shrinking back. Not gone-just withdrawing. hope this helped...not stupid at all :o)

  • Remission is a state of inactivity in a disease, such as cancer. If a patient is in remission, it means that there is currently no new cancerous growth, but that doesn't mean the same as being cured. There are also several different types of remission:
    Spontaneous: generally happens on its own without chemo or radiation
    Prolonged: any remission over 1 year
    Complete: a total lack of evidence of the disease, no malignant findings

  • as a cancer patient I can tell you remission means you can see the ight at the end of the tunnel, it means you can take adeep breath and not panic every time you see your doctor. Being told you're in full remission is the BEST feeling you will ever have!!
