How often should you bath your infant?

I have a 5 month old and bath him every other day, just wondering if this is to much or not enough.

  • That's just fine-too often dries out their skin. i'm a nurse,in the hospital a newborn has their first bath and we don't do another one unless they are still there 48 hrs later. ..

  • Thats what I do for my baby thats about the same age and thats what the doctor told us to do.... but now that shes teething and drooling A LOT we give her baths two nights in a roll more often. But on the off nights that we don't give her a bath I usually wipe under her neck and behind her ears really good with a wipe.

  • My 4 month old gets a bath usually every 2-3 days, unless for some reason I feel he's "extra dirty" lol then he'll get one that night regardless of when he last had one.

  • I'll echo the others. I give my 6 month old a good wipe down every night, but he only takes a bath every 2-3 nights. Once he's moving around and getting more dirty we'll do it more often, but for now it just dries out his skin.

  • I know they say at the hospital to only bathe them like 2-3 times a week but I couldn't stand doing that so I have bathed my girls every day since they have been born and their skin is fine I just put lotion on them every time they get out of the bath. I think it helps to get them in a bedtime routine too.

  • I use a sponge bath for our bedtime routine. Then every 2 or 3 days he takes a bath (shower actually since we don't have a big bathtub and we want him to get used to the shower) with me and DH. Also, some babies are really bothered by too many baths. I use Aveeno baby wash and baby lotion, and nightly baths still made his skin dry and break out.
