Getting pregnant after a period

Can a person get pregnant after there period?

  • You can get pregnant anytime during the month. You can even get pregnant ON your period.

  • Sperm only lives for 6 days at most. You need to ovulate within 6 days of having sex to get pregnant. So unless you have a super short cycle, or ovulate on day 6 getting pregnant "on your period" is very uncommon.

  • But it's possible. Most women ovulate around 14 days after the first day of their periods, but it's not something you can automatically count on. You can absolutely get pregnant on your period. It's rare, but it's possible.
