cough drops perfectly safe to take while pregnant?

  • cough drops are on my doctors "okay" list as well.. its not a long list - tylenol, sudafed, benadryl, mylanta, tums, cough drops. You can also check   -- the give the FDA ratings for drugs crossing the placenta (and breast milk)  and warnings. 

    As with anything ask your doctor if you're unsure.  Sudafed, for instance, is NOT reccomended if you have high blood pressure.

  • I have taken them with both my pregnancy and never had a problem. I think it would be better to find the ones without aspartame (sweet and low or equal product), since you should avoid it while pregnant.

  • aspartame you should avoid anyway its bad for your liver and digestion.

    but my drs office said i could take cough drops.

  • You don't want to have a lot of them. Something about the licorice in them.
