  • I would agree with the first answer, try Craigslist.com! You could also put up some flyers in laundromats and post offices...

  • Yep Craigslist is the way to go! Free and very popular website. I buy off of there all the time :)

You are not allowed to sell anything on Freecycle, just give it away.

  • If there are items that you can do without selling and want to get rid of right away, consider donating them to the local Veterans, Salvation Army, or call Social Services to ask them if they know of a family in need for specific items. Also, you can call the police non-emergency number to ask them to call the local battered women's shelter to see if they need donated items. Many times they have to leave their homes with their children with nothing but the clothing on their back - been there, done that.

To sell - we tried Craigslist and got some crazy people responding to our ad. Try to post flyers around your neighborhood in local markets on community bulletin boards, laundromats, anyplace you are allowed to.

If you keep it local then you won't have to worry about shipping the items. Most buyers will pick them up themselves.

  • Craigslist is awesome. I sold a dining room set and a $5,000 swingset and got great prices for both. Don't advertise your address and make sure that you have a husband or someone there with you when you arrange for a viewing of the items.
It's easy to post but I highly recommend that you post pictures and be as specific as possible and only take cash.
    Good luck!

  • Do you have a local free paper? Make up flyers with numbers at the bottom that people can tear off if they want to call you. Word of mouth. Supermarket bulletin board. Flyers in mailboxes. Email everyone you know. Sign on your front lawn and the main road leading to your home.

  • Make sure you ad pictures to your ads on Craigslist. You're more likely to get buyers that way.

Also, check out Yahoo groups and see if there's a cafe group in your area. That's another great place to advertise for free.

    Good luck!
