mucus plug?

This is my 2 kid. but I was induced the first time and know nothing about loosing your mucus plug, will you know thats what it is?
do you lose it all at once? what do you do when you lose it, do you go in?

  • It will just be a thick sometimes pink discharge, usually found when you wipe. Sometimes you see it sometimes you don't. I wouldn't worry either way. I saw it with 2 of mine, the third, came out right before delivery.

  • mucus plug looks like.... mucus from your nose... it can be brownish or pinkish tinged but is usually clearish or yellowy. It can come out like a big gob or come out in pieces. you dont go in when you lose it... but it means labor is soon.

  • you can lose it all at once, or you can lost it in pieces. you may know what it is. but it doesnt mean you will go into labor. it can be severralllll weeks until you go into labor or it can be soon. i know i will call my drs office just in case and let them know that i lost it just to be on the safe side.

  • My mucus plug plug came out first in a couple of small pieces, then the big one came. I'd say it was in total, about the size of two cotton balls, and looked like a bright yellow wad of snot. I saw it when I wiped. It can come out all at once, or in small pieces. It can be yellow, pink, reddish, brown, clear, etc. I went into labor a week later, but that varies from pregnancy to pregnancy.
