  • i would just to be on the safe side. It might be something really little but then again if it isnt you would just beat yourself up later if you didnt go in and found out it was something big.

  • It could be several things. If you are experiencing heart attack (what happens BEFORE cardiac arrest) symptoms (yes, even young women can have them), you would be feeling a heaviness in the center of your chest, like someone is kneeling on it, and pain radiating down your LEFT arm. You would also have profuse sweating, distended neck veins, and be struggling to get a breath.

Other things could be as simple as heart burn/indigestion (does the pain occur after eating?), reflux disease, a pulmonary (lung) issue like emphysema (do you smoke?), or strained chest muscles if you lift heavy things (including your children!) or have started an exercise routine that involves weight/resistance training.

  • If you otherwise feel fine, I would just write down when you feel the pain, how long it lasts, and rate the pain on a scale of 1-10 over the next 2-3 days. If you feel like the pain is usually about a 5, and you cannot relate the pain to anything else, then see your doctor, otherwise, I would rest and wait and see.

  • Yes! Never, ever, ever ignore chest pain. So what if it turns out to be heart burn? Could be a whole lot worse!

  • Could just be gas. Is it a sharp pain?
