  • Mismanagement. You could make 100 times that amount but if you overspend and/or mismanage, you'll be in the same situation. What are your spending habits? How do you manage your finances? Where can you cut back? What do you splurge on? Where is your money going? Keep track of every penny for 3 months and you'll probably be surprised at where your money goes. Until you do that, you'll never have an accurate picture of how you spend so any changes you'll try to implement won't be effective.

  • Doesn't everybody? You have to keep a journal of every cent that leaves your pocket during the day. Track every soda, every coffee, newspaper, toll, cab fare, etc.. that is the only way to find out why. Also if you are in need of some other resources for starting your own business go to and check out the opportunities.

  • I survive on little more than that 1000, and that is to pay my bills etc. So, not intending to be rude, but it sounds to me like you need to learn how to manage your money. As someone else suggested, keep a journal or log of every cent you spend. Then figure out what you need to be spending on (gas, groceries), and what you are spending on that you don't need to (your morning coffee, breakfast on the go, new clothes, etc.). Then it's just a matter of willpower, refusing to spend money that isn't necessary. Learn how to shop sales for the things you need, and when you really want to buy something (new clothes, books, make-up, etc.), learn to shop for the best prices and/or sales.

  • You have $1000 AFTER you pay the bills and can't find a way to make it last? Read the book The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. Also there is a group on here called Dave Ramsey Fans. Its all about paying down debt, living on a budget, and building wealth.
