How do you get melted candles off of the bottom of your candle holders?

I have a favorite crystal candle holder but let my votive burn too long and it flattened along the bottom and has since cooled. How can I get it out now?

  • Put it in the freezer, and the wax will pop right out.

  • I run water in mine and let them soak, then use a butter knife to wedge it out. Never tried the freezer trick, but it sounds like it works!

  • I've never tried the freezer thing I'll have to remember that... I've always used a hair dryer, which also works great for the sticky stuff left by price tags and stickers... :)

  • Another idea is to rub a small amount of vegetable oil inside the candle holder before putting the candle in. That way when it burns out, it will pop right out.
