Would you let your 8 YO go on a roller coaster by themselves?

When we were at Silver Dollar City last weekend my son wanted to go Thunderation and his father and I are not roller coaster people. He went on it the day before with my brother so we let him go by himself. My DH walked him to the gate and I met him at the exit. Would you let your child go on a roller coaster by themselves?

  • I don't know thats a tough one. I'd be scared he wouldn't be doing what he was supposed to so probably not. Better safe then sorry!

  • I wouldn't let mine go on by themselves. I prefer to ride with them. When they show me they are mature enough we'll talk.

  • It would depend on the kid, maturity, etc. My 8yo...no, never, but she is too small to ride most roller coasters and I don't think I would let her on the ones she is tall enough to ride because she is so skinny (she only weighs 40lbs). My 6yo son I would take on with me and by 8 he would probably be mature enough to ride alone but I'd rather go with him (of course, I love roller coasters).
