Phones to use overseas?

I need a phone that will work overseas with an international sim card. Has anyone had experience with any or have any information on where to find one or what carriers would work afford ably calling back to the States?

  • Thanks for the answers! I actually researched and found a company that will offer a SIM card that works with my current Blackberry. Its not that cheap, but cheaper than using a US based service or SIM card.

  • I know t mobile had one and Verizon also. Well Verizon does not use sim cards. They are called world phones, and I know that AT&T also has a few (when I worked for Cingular) we had a few.

  • you should also look into using SmartRoam.net. It's a service where you can avoid expensive roaming fees when traveling to different countries.

  • At&T had the best rates when I looked about 6 months ago, (and came recommended by many traveling friends) but then it would depend on the area you are traveling to.
