Is it ok to use after the "use by" date?

I have a box of refrigerated pie crusts with a use by date of 16 December. Would they be ok to use tonight, or should I toss them?

  • December 16, 2008? I;d still use em as long as they are'nt moldy or funny colored or anything else that might indicate they were past their prime.

  • I agree with tat2ed mommy.
As long as it's still of this year, and they don't look too bad, yes.
The only thing I really take the used by date into consideration is things like milk, eggs, ect.

  • I would use them as long as they look okay. the taste might not be optimal, theymight be a little dry.

  • I'd use them.. expiration or use by dates always seem to be a bit exaggerated.

  • Check them over. If there's any tiny little black specks all over the surface, then that is the beginning of mold, and you should toss them. This soon after the date, though, they should be fine.
