I am getting a wedding ring upgrade....

Is anyone else, how long were you married before you upgraded you ring?

  • I've never gotten a diamond ring and never want one. Eventually, I want a mother's ring and a grandmother's ring. For our wedding rings, we have matching gold bands with crosses etched into them. We'll wear them forever. We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary just this year (we've been together for 18 years) and want to renew our vows in a small church ceremony on our 20th anniversary, but keep the same rings.

  • My original wedding band was nice - just a gold band. DH surprised me with a white gold band with diamonds after 6 years and then added a diamond solitare at 13 years. We've been married 18 years and I am not planning to upgrade anytime soon (but I won't object if DH wants to give me something bigger!!!)! I still have my original though. Congrats on the upgrade!

  • I think you should upgrade whenever you feel is the right time. It's a personal choice, I wouldn't ever consider doing it myself...luckily the one I got first was HUGE. Just make sure you keep the first ring... Congrats to you both

  • I got an upgrade for my 2 year but I also lost my first set when I took them off cause my fingures swelled and i didnt want to have to cut them ( I've had to cut off a few) and I want another upgrade lol

  • I upgraded my ring 6 months after we got married. But I just had a silver band and all the crazy hormones with pregnancy the ring made my skin turn into a rash. So I bought a new one with diamonds my next upgrade wont be for like 10 years or so.

  • I had one diamond for my engagement ring. For my 5th anniversary, I got a right hand ring with three stones. When I had my son (2nd baby), I got a diamond wrap (I think it's called) put with my engagement ring, so it's the larger center stone with 2 smaller diamonds on each side. For our 10th anniversary last summer, nothing.

  • We have been married for three but together for four. For our five year we are getting remarried with a big church wedding.
