How old was your baby when they started teething?

I was at the store today, and as I was singing to my DD (everyone stares when I do that! LOL), she got a BIG, open mouthed, scrunched nose smile on her face. I noticed a couple of white dots on her gums, and after sanitizing my hands, I pulled her lip down. BOOM! Two little white peaks of teeth! She is only going to be 10 weeks on Friday! She turned 2 months on the 24th! Poor thing!! I picked up some baby orajel, gel teething rings (as she HATES the hard ones) and some baby tylenol. 'Cause I didn't want to run out. Any other suggestions? Someone told me to use frozen waffles, but I'm not sure I wanna do that! ;)

  • Awww, poor baby!!! Her gums NEVER even got swollen, puffy, red or seemed aggravated. The ONLY indication I had before this was drooling and wanting to suck on the nipple of her bottles. (Yes, I'm one of those awful bottle mommies....grrr, arg)
I'm just hoping that the fussing she's done is as bad as it gets. *crosses fingers*

  • Baby orajel is not worth it. It only lasts a few minutes.

Mine was 2 months old when she started. She's 29 months now and has one tooth to go. Thank Goodness it's nearly over!

  • My DS started teething around 2 months as well, the first tooth popped thru at 3.5 months. By 6.5 months, he had EIGHT teeth!! Over Christmas he started biting and drooling like a faucet again, and sure enough, the top two molars are splitting the gums.

Oragel is a waste, IMO. Hyland's teething tablets and Tylenol or Motrin work wonders. I do Motrin when he's REALLY cranky, usually just Hyland's. He has tons of toys to chew on, which really helps too. Good luck!!

  • my mother gave my daughter an unopened Pop-Ice, and it soothed her she wouldn't give it back even when it was melted! i liked them because they won't break into little pieces and become a choking hazard.
