How can i trim my baby's fingernails?

I have one of those clippers with a magnifying glass on it, but i
m too scared to use it on him..even when he's asleep...but it seems like when i finally get the courage to do it, they grow back in a day or so...what can i do about this?

  • yeah, until those nails get harder and bigger, it's best to gently file them while the baby sleeps. the first time I clipped my daughter's nails I accidentally nipped her finger too. It was awful. I gave up and went back to filing for a couple of months.

  • I used a round-tipped scissors made for trimming baby fingernails.

  • I bit DDs nails off until they started getting too hard to bite- and I started clipping on her toes first.. nail filers can be tricky too.. just bite em.

  • if they are soft enough still, like a few months old, you can bite them off. gross i know, but the sensitvity of your mouth will actually help fears of getting skin caught. if they are harder now, just use regular clippers. my sons nails are claws sometimes, so keep up with the trimming.

  • I bite them too. I do when he's nursing. I thought I was the only one!  I've used clippers but I've cut him because he won't say still.
