what age should you put your child in pre-school??

  • Three is the earliest. Some kids are ready then. Some aren't. Some aren't ready until kindergarten.

  • You should put your child in preschool when you want to. It's that simple. There is no real "best" age and most free preschools won't take kids until they're at least almost 4.

    If you want to pay, there are some for 3 year olds...but at that age it's more about socialization not academics.

  • As a former preschool teacher (and mom of 3) I think that age 3.5yrs. is about right for most kids. Young 3's may not yet be ready to be away from mom if they haven't been in daycare previously, and they certainly don't need any 'academics' before about age 4. Of course, all kids are different so you should do what you feel is best for your child.
